On the Valentine Day

I'm here for book reading toda I am having a cup of Earl Grey tea at the cafe "Heikinritsu"meaning equal temperament located near Gakugeidaigaku station.

I'm here for book reading today.

Here a member comes
with ”Hoge-chan”.

”What's Hoge-chan”?

You must think so.

Hoge-chan is …

A stuffed Hoge-chan is a tour de force by the member.
It seems to pop up from the book.

What Hoge-chan looks at is Apple pie made by Erisa, the cafe owner.

"This is my favorite*\(^o^)/*"

The happiest moment for Hoge-chan.

Erisa's apple pie is not spiced with cinnamon.
If you do not like cinnamon,

Here it is!
Here's apple-pie without cinnamon!
Please come and eat it.
But one thing to mind. Not always apple pie is cooked, call the cafe before you come.
Here's the telephone number.

Pretty special doughnuts just for Valentine's Day

a limited package of small doughnuts for Valentine's
Day
limited designs of doughnuts for Valentine's Day

I visited Kouenji today.
There is a very pretty doughnut shop named "Floresta" in Koenji.
They sell very pretty doughnuts shaped animals.

As Valentine's Day is near coming, they sell

⚫limited package of small doughnuts    and
⚫limited designs of doughnuts

for the Day.

I bought the first one.
It's too pretty to eat them.

Panda-shaped cake filled with custard

This is a photo of panda-shaped cake.
It was sold at the event named "Yen-nichi"which was held just in front of Koenji station.
There are some more stalls selling foods like yakisoba and meat roll-up onigiri.

Let me explain some Japanese words here.
"Yen-nichi" is a nice coinage which reminds us of  "En-nichi" meaning the day of the fair.
"Yakisoba" is a fried noodle with meat and vegetables mainly cabbage and flavored with sauce.
"Onigiri" is a rice ball. Onigiri introduced above is rolled up with grilled meat.

F.Y.I, the event will be also held in Koenji on 14th and 15th.

The latest needlework of mine - Chinese lantern plant

This is the latest needlework of mine - Chinese lantern plant
In the language of flowers, chinese lantern plant signifies deception.
Chinese lantern plant is "hoozuki" in Japanese.
There are various theories as to why the flower is named hoozuki.
Some of the theories are introduced here.
One of the theories is that the berry of the flower is red as much as cheek ("hoo" in Japanese).
Another is that sting bug named "hoho" likes the flower.

The latest needlework of mine - Cherry blossom

This is the latest needlework of mine - Cherry blossom
In the language of flowers, cherry blossom signifies spiritual beauty.

Cherry blossom is "Sakura" in Japanese.
The name is derived from a goddess in Japanese myths, Konohanasakuyahime who is said to be beautiful just like the blooming cherry blossom.

The latest needlework of mine - Camellia

This is the latest needlework of mine - Camellia
In the language of flowers, Camellia signifies humility.

Many flowers lose their petals one by one when the last time comes.
Camellia however falls keeping its shape.
In the old days, it reminds samurais of  cutting their heads off.
Therefore it seems to be thought that camellia brings them ill fortune.

On the other hand, Tsubaki, Japanese name of camellia, is named for that it has thick and strong leaves or that its leaves are glossy.

I who live in the age with no idea of harakiri and kubikiri, love camellia and admire it for its beauty.
